Pagers sound to a 999 call received from a member of the public reporting a person in the water off Plaidy Beach.

The B Class Atlantic 75 B-793 "Alan and Margaret" is launched in stormy conditions at the full height of the spring tide.

The search was called off after no one was found and a member of the public spotting a man leaving the beach matching the description of the swimmer".

As always, the advice from the RNLI and HM Coastguard
when conditions on the sea and along the coast are extremely treacherous with gale-force winds, high tides and heavy rain
is to keep away from the shoreline and do not take any unnecessary risks.
